Get to Know Cancer

Cancer claims more than 160,000 lives every year, making it one of the UK’s biggest killers. However, catching the disease early can improve survival rates to as high as 90%. The London Health Board asked us to create a behaviour change campaign to help Londoners spot the early signs of cancer and report to their GPs as soon as possible.

Our response was ‘Get To Know Cancer’. The campaign took a decidedly positive approach to communications, with uplifting messages and powerful quotes brought to life with photography of real Londoners who are winning their own battles with the disease. We also created a cancer advice centre that popped-up in many locations across the capital. This provided a welcoming and safe space for people to have their questions answered by experts and some of the people featured in the case studies.

Get to Know Cancer received widespread coverage in the media, and garnered support from a number of high-profile sources, including the Mayor of London. Most importantly it inspired hundreds of volunteers to support the delivery of the pop-up-shop, and take the fight against cancer into their local communities.
